Our product selection

Benefiting from an extensive experience in rope-grown mussels in the Mediterranean, Florent Tarbouriech travelled abroad to meet producers using similar techniques in Spain, Italy and Greece.
Today, with the help of stringent selection of the best products in season, Médithau is still the specialist for rope-grown mussels in Southern Europe. This expertise is the fruit of frequent visits to production sites to get closer to producers and monitor product quality.

Other shellfish are extremely carefully chosen from referenced producers. Respect for applicable legal standards, freshness and supply capacity are all key elements in Médithau’s partnership.

Moreover, Médithau aims at working with responsible partners who protect environment, as part of our commitment to sustainable development. Médithau’s partnership agreements now include a commitment by suppliers to minimise their environmental impact, particularly by recycling waste and taking special care of their production sites.

Traceability

All incoming shellfish are allocated a batch number. Batch identification is monitored throughout the shellfish circuit to ensure total and transparent traceability for all our products.

Deliveries and purification

Incoming shellfish are immediately washed (mussels are also declustered) and placed in pools. With a total volume of 1350m3 , the pools allow storage of shellfish in optimum biomass conditions. _To ensure impeccable bacteriological quality, Médithau lead purification of shellfish for the appropriate period.

Sizing and sorting

The shellfish are removed from the pools and washed again. They are mechanically sized and then manually sorted before being packaged.



Packaging

Médithau has a wide variety of packagings available.
L'emballageAs well as traditional packaging in bags and wooden crates, top-of-the-range oysters are sold in reed baskets, while many shellfish can also be vacuum packed. This procedure makes the product convenient, ready-to-use, for which there is a high demand. Our customers also appreciate easy handling, storage and shelf display of these products.




















Order preparation / Dispatshing

A large cold aread of 250 m2 surfaced is dedicated to the pallets building. The temperature of this room is regulated between 4 to 8 °C to preserve the products freshness for a long conservation.
All the products are packaged et dispatched less time as 8 hours after elaboration : That is why our products will stay alive a long time.

Carrier

Every day a number from 8 to 10 tracks start from our site. Medithau is the partner of all national carrier, in order to supply costumers in the shortest time all over french territory. You can contact us to know the period of time to deliver you out of land.
