Specie : Mytilus galloprovincialis
Origin : Mediterranean and Atlantic
Specificity : Mytilus galloprovincialis differs from Mytilus edulis in meat quantity. It’s a considerable asset for south mussels.
Method of farming : In suspension on sub-surface lines or floating rafts.
Disponibility : All the year
The fluctuations of water temperature between Greece and Italy bring a difference of reproduction time. It allows to supply you all year long with a best quality of mussels.
Thanks to this different places of supply, the consumer will find a product with an optimal size and meat content. In other way, the product gets typical tastes which remind holidays in Mediterranean.
Mussels from Spain:
They are brought up in "rias" in the region of Galicia. These mussels are characterized by their big size (2-3 times more important than mussels in Gulf of Lion) and their very meety characteristic.
Mussels from France : They come from two singular places of Mediterranean : "Etang de Thau" (shellfish are farmed in suspension on tables) and "Gulf of Lion" (shellfish are farmed in suspension on long submarine lines).
Mussels from Greece : They are brought up in supension long lines. The major asset of this mussel resides in it shell, articularly strong and aesthetic at once. Its hard shell improve the attractivity of this product.
Mussels from Italy : They are brought up on long lines in the Adriatic Sea. The exceptional environmental conditions allow to offer you a product with very esthetic shell, and an iodized/sweet taste.
